Google Search Console Now Shows AI Visibility: What Service Businesses Should Measure First

QUICK ANSWER

Google Search Console can now show how often your pages appear in AI Overviews, AI Mode, and other generative AI experiences. Use the report to identify useful topics and pages already earning visibility, then compare that exposure with qualified calls, leads, and revenue—not a vanity metric alone.

Google says its Search Generative AI performance reports reached all websites worldwide on August 31, 2026. This gives service businesses a first-party way to see which pages appear in generative features, where that happens, and how exposure changes over time.

That is a major AEO measurement improvement. It does not mean every impression is a qualified opportunity. A page can be useful in an AI answer and still fail to generate a call because it serves the wrong intent, the wrong market, or does not give a ready buyer a useful next step.

WHAT TO MEASURE

What Does the New AI Visibility Report Show?

Google provides dedicated views for generative AI impressions, pages, countries, devices, and dates. The data remains in the overall Performance report too, but the separate view makes it easier to evaluate AI-feature visibility without trying to infer it from blended totals.

DatesIs visibility changing?Review a trend window, not one unusual day.

FIVE CHANNELS INSIGHT

AI visibility is a discovery signal, not a lead-quality score. Combine it with call tracking, qualified forms, booked appointments, and revenue outcomes before deciding what deserves more investment.

YOUR FIRST 30 DAYS

How Should a Service Business Use This Data?

  1. Save a baseline. Record AI-feature impressions, pages, countries, devices, organic clicks, calls, qualified leads, and booked outcomes for a consistent 30-day period.
  2. Separate research from buying intent. Educational pages can earn visibility, but they should provide a relevant path to a service, proof point, or consultation when it helps the visitor.
  3. Improve pages already earning inclusion. Add a concise answer, useful headings, evidence, direct internal links, and one clear next step. Avoid filler.
  4. Change deliberately. Make one meaningful improvement at a time so your team can learn what actually helped.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Search Console AI Visibility: Common Questions

Does it show AI Overviews and AI Mode?

Google says the Search report covers generative AI features in Search, including AI Overviews and AI Mode. A separate report covers generative features in Discover.

Are AI-feature impressions qualified leads?

No. They show exposure, not whether someone called, booked, or bought. Pair the report with conversion and CRM-quality data.

Should I rewrite every page that is not shown?

No. Prioritize topics that serve your customers and business goals. Improve clarity and usefulness where the evidence supports it.
